The Upanishads assert that there is a world of illusion known as "Maya" that prevents the individual from attaining the true knowledge of the universe.

Upanishads

Hinduism has a collection of 108 Upanishads. Twenty of these Upanishads have been called the Yoga Upanishads. They contain important philosophical teachings on yoga, meditation, and personal growth. These Upanishads can be found in Muktika, an anthology of the 108 Upanishads.

These Upanishads describe the highest Self, known in different names, such as Matter, Life, Mind, Supermind, Bliss, and Atman. They also discuss the various states of being within an individual. Each state is related with the universal principles the One Being. Brahman is also defined in the Upanishad as the highest knowledge necessary for individual liberation. We can attain the highest self-existence aspirations when we have this knowledge.

Mahavakyas

The Upanishads are ancient texts that encourage us to question everything, including the nature of God. These texts have been the basis for Indian religion and have influenced Jainism and Sikhism. The Upanishads offer a rich understanding of human nature.

Many hymns in the Upanishads are addressed to different gods. One hymn addresses Indra (Lord of the Heavens) and is dedicated to the god of rains and storms, Indra. Many hymns praise Indra. The Upanishads have two Mandalas, Mandala 1 and Mandala 10, which were thought to be added later.

Kriya Yoga Upanishad

Kriya Yoga Upanishad an ancient text that explains Yoga's exoteric science, in simple but precise terms. This ancient text was revised and embellished by Goswami Kriyananda to include illustrations and explanations of the practices and principles. These illustrations help to make the exoteric teachings clearer and more precise, and make it easier for the reader to understand them.

It contains extensive sections on cosmology as well as esoteric anatomy and huit members for Kriya Yoga. It also features descriptions of Tirthas and sacred places of benedictions.

Svetasvatara Upanishad

The Svetasvatara Upanishad, a text written in ancient India, deals with the theory and practice of Yoga. Its content varies, though there are some common elements among the different Upanishads. For example, the Samanya Upanishad is focused on monastic practice, and the renunciation oneself, while the Shakta Upanishad is focused on Shakti worship.

The SvetasvataraUpanishad is one of the most important texts on Yoga. It describes the practice of Yoga as an act of self-control. Yoga, when done properly, requires one to hold their breathe and inhale through the nostrils until their vital forces weaken.
